It Is Mine

You may know what I’ve been through
You may have even been through similar yourself,
You may know all the things that have happened to me
Every blow by blow
Every bruise and wound
Every scar left behind

But, you don’t know the sorrow of my soul
That is unique to me
It has been my own

Likewise, you may know what I’ve overcome
You may have even overcome as well
You may know every demon I’ve battled
Every war I’ve won
Every release and freedom I’ve been given
Every healing I’ve known

But, you don’t know the joy of my soul
That is unique to me
It is my own

  1. This was very touching. Thank you for sharing it here. The concept that people can have the same type of experiences but get different feelings from them is so true.

    1. It is so true. Perceptions and individual interpretations make everything such a unique experience. I've often wondered why some people seem so resilient and others (me) seem to take so long to recover.

    1. Thank you. It was a bit therapeutic to write it. It was a step in owning my own grief and accepting the responsibility of getting past it.

  5. There are times when I come across something that speaks what I feel and words that touch just where I need to be touched in that moment. This was one of those times. Thank you very much.
